The opportunity
As a Program Manager you will be responsible for the management, direction and leadership of a program, which consists of a group of related projects, subprograms, and/or program activities, in alignment with strategy, commitments and goals. You will be leading project teams consisting of cross-functional, global and virtual groups and directly supervises staff, ensuring the appropriate expectations, principles, structures, tools and responsibilities are in place to deliver the program and deliver excellence. You’ll spend most of your time overseeing and managing the overall design, building, and testing of IT programs, services and solutions - on time, within budget, meeting client/business requirements and in compliance
Your key responsibilities
- Within large projects, defines and maintains realistic project plans, monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria and ensures programs of work are correctly allocated and resourced
- Performing the relevant program management processes - i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and close, and the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication, stakeholder management
- Presenting projects plans, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior business leaders within EY and with clients
- Identifying scenarios, formulates specs for design and engineering to deliver on-time
- Working with project managers to provide support and guidance for the individual projects within a program of work and may manage people / teams.
- Leading the development and improvement of project governance framework for use across programs of work
- Building long-term relationships with internal and external IT and business leaders, ensuring engagement and formal agreement from a diverse range of stakeholders throughout
- Leading the development of RFP/RFI process.
Skills and attributes for success
- Expert knowledge of Project Management, IT governance formulation, and team management
- Knowledge of IT risk management, IT standards and policies formulation
- Robust understanding of IT Software development and delivery
- Strong financial acumen ensuring financial metrics are met across multiple projects and revenue enhancement opportunities are modelled and implemented where applicable
- Demonstrate mastery in Client and stakeholders management
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, IT, Science, other Technical qualification or related field preferred
- More than 10 years in a corporate IT environment
- Demonstrates understanding of scope, schedule and planning; understanding of time management, resource management cost management. Possesses good project management skills.
- Proven understanding of program management
- Experience working in Agile Framework Methodology
- Experience of working within complex, matrixed multi-location teams
- Experience of working in large programs of work
- Proven experience in structuring and executing complex projects as a project manager
- Experience applying formal project management methodologies and disciplines for a program or multiple projects
- Experience establishing governance structures that facilitate and drive decision-making, trade-offs and escalation paths
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) / PMBOK / PRINCE 2 / Project Management Professional (PMP) / Program Management Professional (PgMP)
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) / Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
- 6 sigma certifications
